This inductive proximity sensor will detect the prescence of a metallic object within 5mm of the surface of the sensor. The detection distance may vary slightly depending on the shape, size, and type of metal the object is made of. It can detect through thin, non-metallic materials and has an LED indicator that turns on when the device is powered, and increases in brightness when an object is detected.

Connection

This sensor connects to a device with a Digital Input.

This is how you use an external power supply to connect the 3528 to a Phidget InterfaceKit or Hub that does not have an external power jack:

  • Connect the +12 wire from the Power Supply (that's the one with the white line) to the 3528 Brown wire.
  • Connect the 3528 Black wire to a Digital Input on the Phidget
  • Connect the Power supply Ground Wire and the 3528 Blue wire to the Digital Input Ground connector on the Phidget.

Note: When the 3528 is connected to a 1012, it will behave as a Normally Closed (NC) sensor instead of Normally Open (NO).

For boards that have power input, if the supplied power is within 12-24VDC, the +V line can be connected to the terminal block, powering the sensor through the Phidget.
