U.S. Tariffs

From Phidgets Support

This page exists for customers based in the United States. It details how duties, tariffs, brokerage, and other fees are applied to orders.

Changes to the De Minimis Exemption

Effective May 2, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. EDT, the U.S. Government will end the De Minimis exemption for covered goods from the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Hong Kong.

As a result, all orders shipped from Phidgets Inc. to the United States will be subject to duties, tariffs, and brokerage fees, regardless of the order value. Previously, shipments under $800.00 USD qualified for the De Minimis exemption and were delivered duty-free.

Prepayment of Customs Charges

Effective April 30, 2025, Phidgets Inc. will begin using UPS® Global Checkout to collect duties, tariffs, and brokerage fees based on your product's Country of Origin & U.S. HTS Import Code. This will ensure you know exactly what you'll pay upfront, eliminating any unexpected costs at delivery.

You can see your customs charges during checkout under the Customs Charges heading:

Brokerage fees refer to charges imposed by freight forwarders or customs brokers for clearing products through customs. There is also a fee associated with the UPS® Global Checkout service. At Phidgets Inc., we continually monitor and negotiate all fees to ensure our customers are receiving the best deal possible.
