Can I add a low side MOSFET (2N7000) to a REL1100 output?

Hello everyone,

I activate and deactivate a latching relay using a REL1100 connected to a HUB5000 to power ON or OFF a remote observatory. Is it possible to add in parallel to one (the OFF output) of the relay outputs a low side 2N7000 MOSFET controlled by a WEMOS D1 Mini so I can deactivate the latching relay?

As for the WHY I need this, see below:

I need that functionality because I am running a remote observatory powered by a solar charged battery and if the battery voltage drops below a certain point, an observatory shutdown is performed. The astrophotography session is stopped, the telescope is parked, the roof is closed, the astro software is ended and the PC is shutdown after a command is sent to the WEMOS to reset the relay after a specified time period, since the PC won't be able to do it itself after the shutdown.

Any insight on this will be much appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. You want to have the FET controlled by the same relay output that's controlling power? Or have I misunderstood you?

Could you make a drawing or diagram of what you are hoping to do?

I simply want to trigger a latching relay from the REL1100 as well as from another source, in case of 'emergency'. I did connect the circuit as shown in the attached figure and things work fine, as I expected. I just wanted to confirm that there would be no major surprises and there were none.
