Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0

Postby tehrose » Tue Aug 16, 2011 10:51 am

Hello,

Is there anyone using Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0? I don't believe it's possible but I'm wondering if anyone has been able to make it work.

I'm using the Phidgets Spatial 0/0/3 - 1049, but if you can get the libraries to work with 1 device it might work with another.

Thanks,
Cody

I don't see why it wouldn't work. You will just need to have .NET 3.5 also installed on the system alongside 4.0 to use the Phidget Libraries.

Sure, but a project has a target .NET framework. And I'm wondering if the Accelerometer could work with 4.0.

The libraries are compatible with .NET 2.0 and 3.5.

Thank you. Are there any future plans for 4.0 libraries?

Also, because the libraries are for 2.0 and 3.5 doesn't mean that it won't work in VS2010, correct?

What feature of 4.0 would make it interesting enough for a dedicated library? I don't see Microsoft removing support for 2.0/3.5 development anytime soon...

Basically, the two pieces of hardware I'm working with (1049 included) do not work with the same .NET libraries. Also, I'm just asking if/when libraries for 4.0 will be available. Not trying to make a case for it.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi,

I just tried to play around with phidgets for the first time and failed... Could anybody tell me how s/he got the C# libraries to work under .NET 4/MSVS 2010? Both installers I found so far [1, 2] told me they'd require .NET version 1.1.4322 and ask if I would like to obtain it from the web now. It does not matter what button I click, both close the installer. I tried to install older versions of .NET but haven't been successful.

Thanks,
iko

--- edit ---
Okay, I figured out that [1] has actually nothing to do with Phidgets at all.

The GroupLab.Phidgets.NET Library page [3] states that the library is deprecated. I should go to [4] and select the link for Shared Phidgets. Well, there is no "link for Shared Phidgets" -- anyway it is not recognizable as such. The only reasonable link is "Phidgets .NET", which leads to a site just containing a link to the deprecated beta again. I would appreciate some clarification on what is the most current and recommended version and how I can get it to work. Thanks!
