I don't think it's a power issue. Basically, tags that the old reader can read from a distance need to be placed right on the antenna? That's probably a bad antenna. You'll need to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
for a replacement.
Actually, maybe it is a power issue. The new readers will show up on USB at a lower voltage then the 1023 because of the new processor, but a too-low USB voltage could cause issues with the antenna voltage. Make sure you don't use an unpowered hub.
All 1024 go through testing, so the antenna definitely worked at the factory, at the expected read range.
