Wind direction with InterfaceKits

Postby black_unicorn » Mon Jun 15, 2015 5:28 am

I have purchased this product:
http://www.davisnet.com/product_documen ... 911_SS.pdf

I wonder as I can with the InterfaceKits read the wind direction.
Can anybody help me?

Thank you.-

The wind direction pot could be read with an analog input. The wind speed could probably be read with a digital input - it depends how fast of a wind you want to be able to read, and what exactly the input pulses look like. So 1018 or 1011. Wind speed could also be read with the 1054 frequency counter.

Patrick, tanks.
Can you give me a clue about how to read the wind direction with an analog input?

Code: Select all

Annemometer   Phidgets Sensor Cable
       red --> black
     green --> white
    yellow --> red

It's simply a potentiometer, so you will need to correlate the direction to certain analog values just by turning it manually.

Thanks! Patrick.
One more...How can I know that the input voltage to the yellow cable (red Phidgets Sensor Cable) will not damage the circuit anemometer?

5v is safe for a simple potentiometer, the yellow wire states that it is power for the pot. The wind speed sensor is simply closing a switch to ground, so that's not using any power.
