+5VDC

Postby black_unicorn » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:09 am

Good morning.
I have the following query (can be quite obvious) but my lack of experience makes me ask.
I can directly connect the sensor follows: http://www.vegetronix.com/Products/VH400/ directly to an analog port 8/8/8 InterfaceKit Hub?

When explained in the manuals of 8/8/8 InterfaceKit Hub that delivered +5 VDC analog port is the same as 5V max?

How InterfaceKit known that voltage sensor should offer?

Can you connect to the analog ports working devices 4mA to 20mA? If so, how I can play or read the data?

Of course, thanks.

Yes you can connect this sensor to the interface kit. The output of the sensor appears to be 0-3V which is within the range of the analog inputs in the interface kit.

If you want to use a 4-20mA sensor you would need to use one of these as well:

Thanks for replay.
One more. In the Manual says: "...In addition to Phidgets sensors, any sensor that returns a signal between 0 and 5 volts can be easily interfaced...Note: these sensors are not "plug & play" like sensors manufactured by Phidgets..."

¿What means that? And another question. For example...the sensor follows: http://www.vegetronix.com/Products/VH400/Who works whit a Input Voltage from 3.3V to 20 VDC and a Output Voltage Range from 0 to 3V. ¿You can show me an example that who I can read it? I'm work with Java.

I think that the way is this, but im not sure. (The sensor getSensorValue(int index) * 0,005), is correct for NonPhidgets Sensor?

Thanks very much for your help.

I share the solution I developed and worked perfectly for my purpose:
My starting point was: How to get a sensor reading consistent with Phidgets? My sensor supports input from 3.3V up to 20 v and returns an output between 0V and 3V.

My solution:
(getIk (). getSensorValue (Puerto_Entrada_Analoga_Humedad_Suelo) * 5.0) / 1000.0

This gave me back the voltage sensor.

I can not say it is the best or the most optimized, but it worked for my needs.

Until next time.
