Reading PWM Signals

Postby tobor » Thu Feb 05, 2009 11:17 am

Can I read a 0-5V PWM (pulse width modulated) signal the same as a static analog measurement? As far as the interface kit is concerned, can a PWM signal be connected directly to an analog input without any modifications neccesary?

It can be connected to an Analog Input. You would probably get very jumpy readings.

Well, you could run it through a low pass filter of some kind before feeding it into your analogue input to average it out, so you get a much smoother reading. Granted, unless the frequency is quite high, you'll likely end up with a rather slow response time.
