Using Phidgets to create a virtual book viewer

Postby dengfengsoft » Tue May 01, 2012 10:18 am

We've made an interesting program using the following phidgets products:

>1015_0 - PhidgetLinearTouch (1 unit)
>1101_0 - IR Distance Adapter (2 units)
>3521_0 - Sharp Distance Sensor 2Y0A21 (10-80cm) (2 units)
>1011_0 - PhidgetInterfaceKit 2/2/2 (1 unit)

The project video: ... okflip.flv

This program allows you to stand in front of a projection screen or a TV ,and flip the book pages on the air by waving your left/right hand.

Here is how it works:

1. Use the 1015_0 - PhidgetLinearTouch to select the books on the 'bookstand'. When the user slide on 1015 with his finger, the software move to the next book (or to the previous book)
2. Connect the distance sensors 3521 + 1101 with 1011_0. One group for sensing the user's left hand and the other group for sensing the user's right hand. When the user's hand pass the 3521 sensor, 1011 will receive the distance data and trigger the book-flipping events.
