actuator of the sort?

Postby cizzi » Tue Jan 26, 2016 6:50 pm

Hi, I'm looking to add a feature to my custom robot. I want an arm that extends and retracts into itself with a tube to water a plant or dispense liquid in a drinking cup. I was thinking of mounting an actuator onto a piece of 2x3 or 2x4 vertically on the robot, the actuator could then extend its arm, release water and retract into itself (this makes it compact). It should extend about 50-70 cm if possible in front of the robot or more. I already have a phidget interface board, what are my options?

Unfortunately, the longest actuator we sell has a stroke length of 30cm (Either the 3547_0 or the 3548_0). You could use multiple actuators for a multi-stage extension, or you could go to an industrial motor supplier to see if they have something closer to the range you're looking for.

If you're willing to do a bit of building, you could alternatively use motors and use them to roll out the tube that delivers the water.
