Phidget Application

Postby Python9000 » Wed Sep 16, 2015 8:42 am

Hi I am completely new to phidgets. I come from an arduino background. In general I need to use a controller to control a motor, measure temperature, vibration, humidity etc. This can be done with an arduino obviously but I have heard Phidgets have better accuracy (ex. accelometers)

Do I just need a computer to upload code onto the phidget and then I can have it run independently with a 12v battery? It will be used in an isolated environment. Thank you!

Phidgets sensors and devices don't have any processors on-board like Arduino, so they need to be connected to a computer running the code at all times. This is why we offer the Phidget SBC. It's a bit more of a heavyweight solution than Arduino, but you get the advantage of running your program on a real operating system and having access to USB devices and ethernet/wifi capability without having to buy separate modules. If you want an example of this kind of project using Phidgets, take a look at our weather station guide.
