Moisture Sensor

Postby brianpc » Wed Dec 19, 2012 7:45 pm

I've seen a couple of other companies that make environmental monitoring sensors - one that interested me was a moisture sensor. It could be used to alert in the case of flooding or if liquid in a vessel has reached a desired level.

Another item along the same lines that could have interesting applications would be a phidget-based liquid flow meter. Probably more difficult to implement than the above mentioned moisture sensor, but could have valid applications in some automated applications.

We have quite a few threads discussing measuring water level and here's a link to one that links to all the others: http://www.phidgets.com/phorum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5186
The "flood sensor" can be accomplished similarly but by having the metal contacts discussed laying close to each other on the floor or low on a wall. Perhaps it would be a good idea for us to write up an application guide on how to get this set-up.

To accommodate some flow meters, we do have the 1054_0 PhidgetFrequencyCounter that can be used, as long as the flow meters have a frequency output.
