HTTP server environment on SBC

Post by bsmith@h-e.com »

Newbie to this forum. I have used USB Phidgets in past projects, but have not used the SBC before.

I'm trying to determine if it is possible to use the HTTP server on the SBC for Phidget control. I need to run a CGI service to handle messages from Polycom VoIP telephones. The phones send out "telephony event notifications" which are XML messages sent by HTTP POST. The Phidget system needs to receive those so it can control wall-mounted indicator lights that show phone status in an office (ringing, busy, etc.).

I've found several older threads discussing the httpd environment on the SBC, but those all linked to a how-to page which no longer exists:

http://www.phidgets.com/docs/Web_Page_on_the_SBC

I can't find anything definitive about this in current documentation. I don't want to get an SBC unless I know this will work. Plan B is to use httpd on a desktop computer and control the Phidget relay module via USB. But I'd prefer to make the Phidget system standalone using the SBC, it's more fun that way!

Advice is appreciated.
