Multiple webcam support

Postby vitterrimo » Tue Feb 09, 2016 10:44 am

in http://www.phidgets.com/docs/Driver_Changelog
In the version: 2.1.8.20151009
I read that
"SBC release
Support for multiple webcams"

On my phidgetSBC3 i have the Version 2.1.8 - Built Dec 17 2015 09:38:36. See Attachment

I connected 3 webcam (See Attachment status webcam) but page /cgi-bin/webcam-webcam.sh reads always only one (the dev/video0).

In status/processes the active service mjpeg_streamer is only one on port 81. See Attachment.

How you can operate multiple webcams ?

Why in the file there is clearly a check only on VIDE0 webcam?

from var/www/cgi-bin/webcam-webcam.sh :

Code: Select all

#!/usr/bin/haserl
<?
. /usr/lib/webif/webif.sh

[ -e /dev/video0 ] && webcam_present="true"

...

I need to control 3 webcam MJPEG frame rates 5 resolution 320x240 how can I do?

Whether multiple webcams will work depends on the webcam, and also the resolution and frame rate. The system will try to start streamers for each webcam plugged in. The regular web interface only shows the 1st one. You can access the others at incrementing port numbers - ie. http://phidgetsbc.local:81, http://phidgetsbc.local:82, http://phidgetsbc.local:83, etc.

I would try setting the lowest resolution and frame rate, and then unplug and replug 2 webcams and see if you get two streamers running, then increase from there. You can also have a look and the system logs - if the 2nd webcam can't start, you'll see a message there.

Thanks Patrick.

Can you tell me with that webcam model definitely works and what resolution should I set?
