MAX 5 - multiple objects with serial numbers

Postby garthpaine » Fri May 22, 2009 7:10 am

Hi all

I am just setting up an interface that uses several 888 interfaces. I am programming it in MAX and want to use place the serial number of each interface as an argument in the Max object in order to ensure that they are always connected in the right order. However the addition of the serial number as an argument does not appear to work in MAX 5 - could I have confirmation of that please?

Also I want to set input sensitivity in the max patch to stop jitter around 0-1. I can not see how to do this - any advice about that would also be helpful.

Thanks, Garth

how are you setting the serial number - it works fine here. As for sensitivity, there is no way to set this from Max, you will need to filter the values yourself.

I am setting the serial number by placing the serial number in the PhidgetInterfaceKit object such as

PhidgetInterfaceKit 37311
Is there a setSerial command I can use?

Thanks, Garth

That's the right way to do it.

Thanks, but this does not appear to work in Max 5. For instance - I have 3 objects, I name 2 with 2 of the three connected 888 interfaces, but they do not connect to the named objects, and the named objects do not output anything - ie. they seem inoperable. With all 3 888's connected I need to be able to identify them so that the patch runs reliably

Cheers, Garth

Just to be safe, please specify the serialnumber to all three objects.
