reading digital input

I have a distance sensor producing a TTl logical signal made so:
the high level is proportional to the distance read.
I have to read the whole signal counting the "true" (or high) so i can reconstruct the distance read by the sensor.

It is possible with the vb6? And if it is possible, can you help me because it seems that the board read only the changes of level ?
Can you submit a possible code?

 OPS! To day there are not yet answer to my problem! I think that the 8/8/8 is not able or not so fast to resolve the question concerning the analisys of a rectangular signal with variable duty cicle. I think that the 888 is useful only with custom sensors! If I had known that great limit, perhaps I not have purchased it.

The 8/8/8 has a resolution of 125 samples per second on the digital inputs, so you will have an error of +-8ms on either side of your pulse - this is probably not anywhere near what you would need for that type of sensor.
