Linux connectivity issue..

Postby Ashlar » Sun Oct 25, 2015 10:05 am

I'm hoping someone can help. I've got a phidgets SBC that I've been using for about 3 years. I had a linux server running debian hosting some python scripts that successfully interfaced with the SBC and a stepper controller.

Well, that server died, but I was able to copy the scripts to another server (running fedora) but that script can't seem to connect to the SBC. I've added an iptables rule to basically open everything between these two systems, and I can telnet on the port from one to the other, but the python script refuses to work.

e.g.

Code: Select all

 temp]# ./step.py
Content-Type: text/plain;charset=utf-8

Waiting for attach....
Phidget Exception 13: Given timeout has been exceeded.
Exiting....

The code that it's hanging on is:

Code: Select all

try:
    stepper.openRemoteIP("192.168.1.138",5001,304700,"")

but..

Code: Select all

temp]# telnet 192.168.1.138 5001
Trying 192.168.1.138...
Connected to 192.168.1.138.
Escape character is '^]'.

I can connect the stepper controller to this machine directly and run the script, no problem.

I can also go to my windows pc and use the phidget control panel, webservice tab > bonjour, and access the stepper just fine. I've also upgraded the packages on the SBC to the latest versions.

So it seems that the stepper and SBC are fine, but I can't connect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried tcpdump on sending and receiving end, to see where traffic stops?
