Project Help

Postby 1druid1 » Wed Jun 20, 2012 2:37 am

Hi All

Wasnt sure where to place this, so hope I have chosen the correct area.

I am trying to create a simple production counter that I can use in a VS2005 VB.Net project that I have.

What I would like is to have a sensor that can count the components that pass it, the components can either be Metal (Aluminium mostly), Cardboard or wood.

Now I would like the Sensor to be either USB or Ethernet, the count from the sensor to the VB.Net program must be in realtime because I also want to be able to have the program signal if the sensor has not seen a product after say 60 seconds.

If possible I would like the sensor to be able to be powered from the controller as I dont want to have sperate PSUs.

Can you recommend a set of components that will do what I need?

Cheers

DJ

It depends somewhat on the specific setup but the 3525 would probably be suitable for this. It creates a beam, and if the beam is broken then the sensor will signal the controller.

You will need an interface kit as well to make this work, I would recommend a 1018.

You may want to consider the 1011 over the 1018 if you only need a few I/O.
