Adv. Servo + Motor HC = EMI :(

Adv. Servo + Motor HC = EMI :(

I've build a robotic arm using a DC motor and several servos all controlled using Phidgets technology (Adv Servo 8 and Motor HC).

I tested both DC motor and servos independently and they worked fine. When I assembled them in the robotic arm I was dissapointed to find EMI problems as documented Addressing_EMI_Issues_Tutorial.pdf.

As far as I can tell the issue is with the Servo controllers (both 4 and 8 versions). I tried numerous ways of eliminating the problem (multiple independent power supplies and PC, laptops) and narrowed it down to the use of servo extension leads. If I remove the extension leads the servo's operate without gitter.

Is there any future plan to make the Advanced Servo 8 controller a little more robust?

For my problem, I guess the only solution is to purchase more controller devices and locate then close to servo's - something I'm relucatant to do on principle.
