PhidgetRFID 1024_0 able to detect blank tags?

Postby noirid » Thu Feb 05, 2015 6:00 am

Hello,

I have recently purchased the 1024_0 reader/writer and have been very happy with it so far. I have also purchased some blank rewritable 125Khz T5577 tags. Here is the thing with them. They come blank and I can write to them using the C# API. After writing to them for the first time I can read them and rewrite them without any issues. My problem is that I cannot detect if they are within range while they are blank. For some reason the reader won't even fire a TagEvent (C#) when a blank tag comes within range. Is this expected behavior? Is there any way to solve this?

Thank you

This is expected - when the tags are blank they do not send any data. What is you use case for needing to detect blank tags?

Thanks for your rerply. Basically I wanted to have an indicator LED in my application that would be on when a tag was in range. Even an empty one. But I guess that's bad practice, I should initialize them first.
