Can't write T5577 Tag with PhidgetsRFID 1024.

Postby andremaricato » Wed Oct 09, 2013 8:44 am

Hy.

I'm having toubles writing to this tag > http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=3920 using the PhidgetsRFID Read-Write, the 1024 model (http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?product_id=1024_0). On the MAC it says nothing when I click write, the tag just continues displaying the old value (using any of the three protocols in the options) and on windows it gives an error 13 (which I belive is some timeout). Am I doing something wrong, something with the values or something? Do you guys have some ideias on I could do?

I believe the tags are not write locked but it can be just that, idk. Is there anyway of knowing for sure?

p.s. I also tested via the C++ functions and the result is the same, it returns 13.

You say that the tag is already reporting a value - so you have written successively to the tag in the past? The tags should arrive blank from Phidgets.

I would guess that the tag was write locked. Otherwise, it should be able to be re-written.

We didn't, but we also didn't buy the tags directly from Phidgets so maybe who wrote them also locked. You're probably right. Is there a way to be sure? Some information the reader sends perhaps?

There is no way to tell. Once a tag is locked, it completely ignores all commands from the writer. So if a tag is written as EM4100 and locked, it will look exactly like a read-only EM4100 tag to the 1024.

Where did you get these tags? Are you 100% sure they are T5577 and not simple EM4100?

We got them from a local reseller. We're trying to confirm if there was some error on their part. Thanks for the advice.
