PhidgetRFID 1024_0 TRPGR30ATGC, no response

Post by wb2020 »

Hello,

I have bough a PhidgetRFID 1024_0 to read these texas instruments glass-tube tags: TRPGR30ATGC

Datasheet says it is ISO/IEC11785 compatible, but when I bring one near the PhidgetRFID nothing happens and no ID is shown in the phidget control panel.

Are they not compatible or is something mis-implemented in the phidget control panel?

Thanks & Many Greetings

I checked the specs for that tag and it looks like it should work with the 1024.

- Make sure "antenna enabled" is checked (it is by default)
- If the 1024 is connected to a USB Hub, try plugging it directly into one of the computer's USB ports to rule out power issues.
- If you have any other RFID tags (some membership cards or rewards programs use them) you can try reading those to rule out problems with your 1024

I just tried some random EM4100 tags and they work well and just print their ID as expected.

A ISO/IEC11785 compatible tag should also just print its ID using the phidget control panel.
So maybe it's not compatible with 134 kHz tags?

Those tags are ISO 11785 HDX - 1024 can only read ISO 11785 FDX.

Thanks for the information, I didn't know there was a difference.
I ordered some FDX Glass tube tags called E675-1.58-FDX-B.

If they don't work I have to try another reader.
Regarding the range there should be no big difference between FDX and HDX tags? However I think the Texas Instruments tags might have a higher quality than the no-name tags I ordered (you can find them on ebay for tracking animals).
