Reading 1040 GPS NMEA with Labview

First of; great to have such a good API for Labview!
Unfortunately, the API for Phidgets22 does not contain a method for reading raw NMEA. The called C dll does seem to have a method for this, but I have no clue how to properly call this method. Can somebody explain to me what parameter(s) I must configure to properly call NMEA?
