Hi.

I'm having some difficulties with my phidgetSBC. Advanced servo controller(8) detaches itself right after attach() so i cant control the servos(throws exception).

Also, the phidget wifi adapter seems to shut of quite often and reconnect.

After searching the forum, i found out that I might be using to thin of a USB, and sure thing I was using a 28awg. I tested with a 24 awg but still the same thing happens. I then suspected the USB driver could not deliver enough current(with resulting voltage drop), so i attached my galaxy s2 with the usb cable to see if it would charge. It does so just fine, so now Im in the dark of what might cause this.

Connecting the s2 does not exclude that the phidget cant deliver the current, cause there is no way to know the load of the charge.

The program works just fine running on my acer(w7).

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Daniel

EDIT:

I tried with a external power supply (with and without servo) and now it works a little bit, then it detaches itself. I made a small attribute that lets me reattach this externally, but that only works a couple of times before it dies completely( i think the SBC hangs). Ive also tried a shielded double ferrite USB cable. Still no go.

EDIT(again):

Still trying. Its almost definetly the USB not beeing able to power the phidgets. If i connect through wireless and use the servo 8 controller, the wireless dies at the same time as the servocontroller.
Anyone has a solution to this ?
The SBC is brand spankin' new, and only used to run one program before this(bought late last year but was put straight back in the box after testing that one thing.).

Hello Daniel,

We have found a bug in the hardware that certain USB devices on certain SBC2s will randomly cause the on-board hub to reset. Connecting the servo controller to a USB hub and then into the SBC2 will reduce the problem. On our new ones, the issue is fixed.

Send an email to support@phidgets.com and they will set you up with a replacement.
