I'm using a Java-based GPSPositionChangeEvent-driven program to monitor my 1040 GPS sensor. I've noticed two abnormalities:

1) Every event is sent twice (exact same GPS time, exact same GPS data, exact same computer time)

2) The frequency of the events varies. Over a period of 66 seconds, I found the average was about 4 events per second (when ignoring duplicates from 1 above), as fast as 10 events per second (what I expected), and as slow as 2.9 seconds between events.

Is this normal? Why am I not receiving ten unique events per second?

Thanks for your help.

It will only send events on position change - if none of lat/long/alt change, then you don't get an event. Max rate is 10/second.
