Hello,

I've bought the 1057 High speed Encoder, Along with a Rotary Encoder (ISC3004). However I'm a little confused with the wiring and don't want to destroy either product.

The Phidget wiring as described on the website is :

black : ground
green : not used
white : A Channel
red : +5V DC
brown : B Channel

The Rotary Encoder is manufactured by HEDSS and the pdf describes it's cabling as :

Red : +5V DC
Black : 0V
Green : Sig A
Brown : Sig A (with a little line over the A)
White : Sig B
Grey : Sig B (with a little line over the B)
Shield : Not Connected

The cable as received only actually has

Red
Green
Black
White
Shield ( a silver mesh rather than a cable)

So I'm a little stumped on how I should hook everything up. The HEDSS encoder as supplied by Phidgets looks as though it's been altered, but that still leaves me without a brown cable on my Encoder.

Can anyone help me on how I should connect this up ?

Photographs attached.

Encoder:Encoder Board

Black:Black
Red:Red
Green:White
White:Brown

The little bar over the signal line just indicates that it is a complimented version of the signal (inverted).

If that does not work, let me know it may be an issue with the type of encoder you have. It is possible that you have a differential encoder which would not be compatible with the 1057.

That shouldn't be a problem, that's the encoder we sell. As far as I know there shouldnt be more than 4 wires on it though.

There is a wiring guide there for how to connect it.
