In the SBC case, you would be best off writing a small application in C or Java that runs on the SBC and can shut things down when it falls off the network, or interpret remote commands when it doesn't.

So where has this got to now?

Is there a simple/economical solution for connecting a phidgets board wirelessly to a computer?

Are there any articles/tutorials about it?

Thanks.

The PhidgetSBC is simple, and can connect to WiFi. Once it's on the network, connecting to it and Phidgets attached to it is as simple as connecting to local Phidgets.

Economical? That depends on your definition.

Well would connecting the 1011 - PhidgetInterfaceKit 2/2/2 to a usb splitter and using one end as a dongle and one end as a usb power supply make it wireless. I t would definitely cost more but would it work ya think?

What kind or wireless interface are you looking for? WiFi? Bluetooth? something else?

http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Product.aspx?id=164641152 is a £60 system where a gauge measures power consumption in your fusebox, and wirelessly transmits data to a display unit, which may connect to your computer by USB.
I would LOVE a similiar system, where a 8/0/0 (or even a 8/8/8) would sit stand-alone (powered by a couple of AA batteries or somthing) and transmit wirelessly to a InterfaceKit Controller connected to the computer by USB, transparent to the programmer and application. If the easiest setup would be to make the actual USB connection the wireless one, fine, but make it easy to put an IK where there is no power supply and no USB or Ethernet cables..

Guys,

I might mistaken.
But if you pick up a serial data stream (rs232) from a phidgets board (if this is possible) then you could feed it to a Bluetooth dongle breakout board.

No RS232 on the Phidgets boards I'm afraid - USB only.
