Hi,

I just hooked up a new accelerometer Phidget to my computer, but after a minute it just stopped working.
After hooking it up, and seeing some feedback, I bound it to the side of ballpen with the 2 twisty wires that hold together the rolled up USB cable. After doing this, I looked at the screen again and saw nothing. It is not even listed in the Manager program anymore.
The wires went through the holes and by accident I may have tightened them a little stronger than was needed, but I would be surprised if that's what killed it.

Is it possible though? Any other thoughts what could've happened?

Were the wires insulated at all? It is possible that while you were sticking them through the holes you accidentally touched the board with them and shorted something out.

It is also possible that the wire are still shorting something, have you tried un-mounting the device to see if it works while not attached?

Yeah the wires were isolated. It was mounted to the metal clip of the pen though. The solderings of the 4 wires were probably all connected to it at one point. Could that have been it? I wasn't sure because that would also mean you can shorten it by just touching them with your thumb for instance, right?

I've unmounted it yes, but to no avail.
